Christmas is a very special time of year, filled with joy, generosity, and celebration. At Metro Ministries, this season holds deep meaning, especially because we get to celebrate it alongside the children we serve. Every December, we organize Christmas programs filled with activities, fun, and a whole lot of love. These programs are designed especially for the children, who are at the heart of everything we do. For many of them, this is the only time of year they receive a gift or take part in something festive, and we want to make that experience unforgettable. We believe every child deserves to feel seen, valued, and celebrated, especially during Christmas.

Our Christmas programs take place across different regions of Costa Rica, including some of the most remote and underserved areas. We give special attention to the indigenous territories, where access to resources is often limited and opportunities for celebration are rare. It fills our hearts with joy to bring light and happiness to these communities during the holiday season. We travel with teams of volunteers, carrying not just presents, but also hope, joy, and the true message of Christmas. We sing songs, play games, tell the Christmas story, and share small gifts and treats that leave a lasting impression.

There’s nothing quite like seeing a child’s face light up when they receive a simple toy or a warm meal during our outreach. For some, it’s the only gift they’ll receive all year. For others, it's the first time they’ve experienced a celebration like this. The laughter, the music, and the stories create memories that stay with them forever. In these moments, we see the true spirit of Christmas come alive.

We believe Christmas isn’t just about giving presents—it’s about creating a space where children feel safe, loved, and full of joy. Our goal is to give them an experience that speaks to their hearts and reminds them that they matter. Many of the children we serve in indigenous communities face daily challenges—limited access to food, education, and opportunities to simply play. So when we show up with a Christmas program, it’s more than just a party—it’s an expression of God’s love and a reminder that they are not forgotten.

Christmas week holds a special place in our hearts because it brings people together in a spirit of fellowship. We unite as a team and as a community to create something meaningful and lasting. Whether it’s through a puppet show, a warm hug, or a small wrapped toy, we do our best to let every child know they are loved. The impact goes beyond the children—it touches the hearts of parents and families who witness their kids laughing, dancing, and being included. These are powerful, healing moments.

At Metro Ministries, we deeply cherish these opportunities. Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year—not because of decorations or gifts, but because of the pure joy we see on each child’s face. It’s a time to plant seeds of hope and create memories that will shape their hearts for years to come. We’re so thankful for every supporter who helps make these programs possible, and we remain committed to bringing the light of Christmas to even the most overlooked corners of Costa Rica.
